Our great state of Colorado offers even more options for hot tubbing without leaving the state, so, we compiled a list of our favorite spots to check out as you’re planning your summer vacation or weekend getaway. These hot springs offer similar hot water benefits to what you’d find in your backyard hot tub getaway.

Avalanche Ranch Cabins & Hot Springs

Located at an elevation of 7,000 feet, Avalanche Ranch Cabins & Hot Springs provides guests with a secluded view of the Rockies in three natural hot spring pools. Mt. Sopris stands nearby at nearly 13,000 feet, as well as the Crystal River.

Apple and plum orchards line the ranch area nearby. The hot springs cascade down from one another. They are open year-round for both cabin guests and public access with reservation.

Dunton Hot Springs

Close to the incredible mountain town of Telluride deep in the San Juan Mountains of the southwestern Colorado Rockies, this restored, romantic ghost town offers a mineral hot springs for visitors. Set in a stunning alpine valley, it is the only Colorado resort to win an award on the Conde Nest Traveler Gold List.

Log cabins, massage therapy and hiking trails await guests as well as the hot springs.

Penny Hot Springs

This natural springs is in its 54th year in Colorado, and is still FREE for visitors to use.

Dan Penny originally opened Penny Hot Springs with a hotel and bathhouse on a railroad line proximate to Avalanche Creek. Snowcapped peaks and canyons surround the area.

Visitors take a short hike from Highway 133, but only 12 people at once can fit in the pool (separated from river by rocks).

Pagosa Springs

Open year round, the 23 mineral hot springs at Pagosa Springs boast the status of being the world’s deepest geothermal hot springs. There’s even a 100% natural mineral water lap pool thrown in for good measure. The San Juan River flows by nearby.

The pools range in temperature from 83 to 114°F.

The Yampah Spa Vapor Caves

These hot springs are found in vapor caves underground – isn’t that pretty crazy?! Hot mineral water steam baths are hidden underneath Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Three rock chambers lead down from a visitor entrance and stone corridor. The caves offer a sense of stillness and rejuvenation from the outside ever-changing climate of the deep Colorado Rockies.

Benches in the alcoves line the dimly lit chambers. Temperatures in the caves rival that of a sauna, at around 110 degrees Fahrenheit, while the water flows at 125 degrees. A cooling area is located nearby.

A hillside behind the Yampah Spa Vapor Caves offers the source of the springs. Thirty-four minerals are found in the natural water.

A full-service spa center and geothermal steam baths are also offered at the Vapor Caves as well. Reservations are recommended, but not required. The caves are conveniently located right off Interstate 70.
