Creating Hot Tub Privacy

After a long work week you only have one thing on your mind — relaxing with friends in your hot tub. The evening is perfect, from the weather to the company. There’s only one problem. Your intimate gathering doesn’t feel so intimate with your neighbors watching you relax in the hot tub. Use the tips below for creating privacy around your hot tub.

Privacy Screen or Wall

Creating privacy around your hot tub doesn’t have to be complicated. Never underestimate the power of a simple privacy screen. The beauty of a privacy screen is that there are so many options to choose from!

If you’re handy, you can easily construct a wall with slats to allow for airflow or even a solid wall for complete privacy. You can find sample plans online where you can match your level of skill to the appropriate screen. You can even browse for options that match the style of your home or patio area.

Maybe your tools of choice aren’t hammer and nails, but rather an online cart and a credit card. That’s fine, too! You can find a wide selection of privacy screens that require minimal assembly. If you already have a structure, such as a pergola or even a covered porch, you can opt for an even simpler solution with outdoor curtains. These are far less permanent options. They provide the flexibility to be open when you’re relaxing on the patio or to be closed when you’d like a bit of privacy as you unwind in the hot tub.

Go Green

Adding privacy allows you to get creative with your options. You can take inspiration from a resort you’ve visited or use your green thumb to get the job done.

Planting taller grasses can give your hot tub area the feel of a tropical vacation right in your own backyard. Varieties such as horsetail or Italian Cypress provide great coverage and privacy while their beauty can transport you to locations a world away. Bamboo is another option that provides a significant amount of privacy. But be sure to do your research as some varieties are able to grow over one hundred feet tall!

You can also incorporate the best of both worlds by building a wall and adding greenery. There are varieties of climbing vines and plants that will add gorgeous color, allow airflow, as well as create a level of privacy as you enjoy your hot tub.

Gazebo

If total privacy is what you want, one possibility to consider is adding a gazebo. Our Covana automated gazebo and hot tub cover offers the benefit of a gazebo and a cover in one. It is automated for ease in height adjustment. I has a variety of screens and shades available to cover one or all sides.

You can also find traditional gazebo options online with fabric sides that provide the option to close for privacy. Sides can be left open for airflow, if necessary.
