One of the perks of owning an Endless Pools® swim spa is knowing you can enjoy it all year round. But using your swim spa through all four seasons comes with protecting it in a variety of weather conditions. Keep your swim spa safe and running smoothly with these tips on how to protect your swim spa during inclement weather.
Use a Cover for Your Swim Spa
If high winds are in the forecast, it’s important to protect your swim spa. The best way to do that is by using a swim spa cover. This helps prevent debris from landing inside your swim spa and causing potential problems.
When you put a cover on your swim spa, it’s important to make sure that it’s secure. You can use straps or clips to ensure it doesn’t blow off of your swim spa in strong wind. A word of caution, though—be sure that your straps or clips are secure, but don’t over tighten them. You’d hate to possibly damage your swim spa by clamping down too tightly on the straps.
Keep Your Water Temperature Consistent
When you try to protect your swim spa from inclement weather, pay attention to the water temperature. External factors aren’t the only things that can have an impact on your swim spa. Bitter cold air can wreak havoc on your swim spa if you don’t protect it properly. If it’s going to be especially cold, it’s important to keep your swim spa water warm. This prevents your water from freezing and causing damage to your swim spa. When you see the temperature is dropping outside, double check the temperature of your swim spa’s water.
Protect Your Swim Spa From Falling Debris
Towering trees are great when they provide shade as you enjoy your swim spa. Those same trees can unleash debris that could damage your swim spa during a storm.
If your swim spa is situated under trees, take extra precautions when you know inclement weather is on the way. You hopefully already have a cover on your swim spa. But falling branches can put a hole in your cover or cause other damage to your swim spa. An easy way to add another layer of protection is to place a piece of plywood on top of your cover. This will help to prevent limbs from puncturing the swim spa cover. If you’re concerned that the plywood may scratch the cover, use extra beach towels as a buffer between the wood and the cover.
